I went with my colleagues to this so called "pork" place. El Cerdo mean " The Pig" in Spanish, is a restaurant which specialise in pork dishes. It is said that they specialize in home-cooked pork flavours from all over the world like Europe, the Caribbean and Mexico. It is located at Changkat, Bukit Bintang where the most busy place in KL at night.
Complimentary bread and pig liver pate
Most of my colleagues did not dare to try when they heard it was make from pig liver. This doesn't stop me from trying. I just love any part inside the pig. It taste quite nice actually with the combination of bread. But if you just take it directly put into your mouth, it has very strong smell of meat. I suggest take the pig liver pate with the bread, it is really nice.
Spanish Ham Platter for two to three persons
Assortment of Jamon Serrano and Jamon Iberico with a Variety of Chorizo Sausages and Condiments
All the ham served were a bit salty although it looks delicious. Everyone just could not finish it because it just make everyone drink a lot of water when trying to eat it. Over marinated the ham or maybe it is just the way like that? The potion was really big where they separated into 2 plate for us, enough for 10 persons.
El Cerdo Sausage Platter
This is the best dish I taste so far. I love it. The sausages taste great with the Sauerkraut (sour cabbage) and Mashed Potato. I love the Sauerkraut as it doesn't taste that sour and a good combination with the sausages. The home-made sausages taste really nice. So far this is the one that make me want for more. Must Try!
Over Roasted BBQ Glazed Ribs-RM68
Glazed with American BBQ sauce, served with mango salad
The pork ribs taste really juicy, goes just nice with the BBQ sauce. Anyway, if you are thinking eating pork ribs with fork and knife, please forget it. You will just end up embrassing yourself as it should eat it with your hand. But don't worry, a bowl of water with lemon will be served to you to wash your hand. Must Try!
“COCHINILLO AL ESTILO SEGOVIANO” Whole Roasted Suckling Piglet RM 258 (4 persons)
The famous roasted suckling piglet that everyone will try if they come to El Cerdo. No one walk away without trying it. You will have to go with their own traditional ceremony before eating it. The piglet will be cut into pieces by using only the plate. This is why it is famous for. Before cutting, you will have use the plate provided to knock the wooden plate for 3 times, then only you can start to chop 3 parts- neck, body and end of buttock. After cutting, take the plate and make a wish before throw into a big wooden bucket.
The skin of the suckling pig was thin and crispy but to compare to Chinese style suckling pig, it just far behind from it. The meat was tender and nice but the only problem is the smell of the pork was too stong. I personally who is a meat lover just could not take it. For those people who likely have meat, I think this isn't a good to try for it. You could put more of the sauce to cover the smell. Anyway, I still prefer the Chinese Style suckling pig more and the price is far more cheaper too. The whole suckling pig was far more enough for 10 of us although it was stated for 4 persons. We end up packing back the leftover.
Mashed Potatoes also come along with the suckling pig.
Paella Traditional Mixta with Seafood, Chicken and Pork-RM88
It looks colourful and delicious, unfortunately it doesn't taste like how it looks. It is a bit disappointing. I guess Malaysian's food like nasi briyani, nasi tomatoes or fried rice where far more better than this. I wasn't planing to compare but it just doesn't taste like the price we should pay for.
After meal drink, a digestive drink which taste a bit lemon and lime, alcohol and salt on top.
I still think that the food were overrated and the price was a bit over price as compare to other similar restaurants. I guess I wont coming back for the near future as there are still many good food out there for me to explore.

Jamon is not cooked, hence it is not "over marinated". it is dry-cured and cut straight from the leg, hence the salty taste.
