I have hold back this post for more than 1 month now as I have too many photos to show and to many thing to write. So it is the time now to show everyone the day I went to Ipoh. Purpose for the trip always the same- Craving for Food! This time it is Ipoh Food. I have been to Ipoh once with my friend but I didn't really get any nice food. This time I have my food kaki with me so I guess I should get what I came for.
We reach Ipoh around 10am and we straight went to have dim sum. There are few dim sum shops at Jalan Leong Sin Nam which also known as the "Dim Sum street". The most famous one is Restoran Foh San, but we didn't choose this shop as my friend recommend us the opposite shop named Ming Court Hong Kong Tim Sum. He said it is the oldest, nicer and cheaper compare to Restoran Foh San. I believe Ipoh people should know better than me. If I come alone, I guess I will be visiting Foh San because the environment is nicer.
Overall the dim sum were nice especially the Siew Mai. Although it is very small size but it taste superb with tender soft meat and taste exactly like those olden day dim sum we find under big tree. The price range from RM2.20 to RM4.90 only. We picked mostly are in RM3.20 range.
Another that you must remember when you dine-in Ipoh dim sum shop, they will push a lot of dim sum on to your table, remember know how to reject them. If not, your table will be full of dim sum even though there is only 3 people.

Next we went to visit KELLI'S CASTLE which is around 20 minutes drive from Ipoh. I went to this place before but came back again just to snap some nicer photos about the place. For more information or history about this place see wikipedia.
Then on the way back to Ipoh, we passed by a lot of caves. That is what Ipoh is famous for, the caves. So we visited the Ling Sen Tong which is more popular to tourists. Besides, they are expanding the temple too.
Lunch time, so my friend brang us to Restoran Sun Yeong Wai to have chicken rice. He said so far it is the nicest place to have roasted chicken rice in Ipoh. It is quite famous as they are few celebrities visited their shops before. Overall the food was good but we can still find lots more of these kind of shop in KL that is far more better.
Roasted Duck (Quarter)-RM12.00
Sesame Chicken (Quarter)-RM10.00
Char Siew-RM8.00
Herbal Tea-RM1.60

Then we went to have some soya bean drink and Tau Fu Fa. It is very famous in Ipoh where it is a small shop located at the corner with a unique name call Funny Mountain. Many were queueing for the soya bean. If you dislike those queue, you can even park you car near the shop and wait in the car. Someone will approach you to take your order. They have those service too, better than drive through. I tasted the soya bean drink but nothing really special about it except it is super duperly sweet.
Salty Chicken is the next stop we went. My family member have requested me to bring back the chicken. This is the original shop who is the first to sell salty chicken. Dad always believe the original one will always be the best among many competitors. It is sold for RM17 whole chicken. It still taste very good as usual. If you want frozen salty chicken in case you are planing to sent it to somewhere far, you can pre-order it few days before.

What else Ipoh is famous for? Pamelo! I can't miss this, can I?
Since we have a photographer with us that day, we went to the Ipoh Railway station for some photo shooting.
After a hot day, herbal drink will be just nice.
Then we went to have our 1st dinner at some place in Ipoh's road side. I'm not sure where is the place. It is famous for its Curry Chicken Rice and Wat Tan Hor(滑蛋河).
Curry Chicken Rice-RM 3.80
The curry taste like my grandma's curry chicken. It is typical Chinese curry chicken not like those we always had in Malay or Indian shops or even some Chinese shops that have modified the curry into more like Nyonya style curry. This is really Traditional Chinese Curry Chicken Rice.
Wat Tan Hor (滑蛋河)-RM 3.50
If you plan to order this, then you have to prepare to wait as it takes a bit longer time to serve. This is because the cook separate into 2 segments while cooking this dish. 1st, she will stir fried the noodles. Then she took out the noodles and cook the gravy separately. So it took her a bit more time. But it taste quite good except that the gravy should cook in bigger fire to taste better. It is cook in small fire to ensure the dish doesn't came with a burning taste that we usually will get.
Since we are planing to visit Ipoh's Berlin's Bier Houz, we skipped to visit the famous Ipoh Chicken Rice for this time. We went to one of the Ipoh's park for some photo shooting while waiting time to passed as we had make reservation earlier for Berlin.
Ipoh's Berlin's Beir Houz is their first outlet. I visited their second outlet in Penang Strait Quay. I just want to find out what is the different between outlet in Penang and Ipoh. Ipoh's outlet is small than Penang, plus they served limited Germany Beers compare to Penang's outlet. Anyway, I still ordered my usual must have it Lowenbrau Original- RM30(a pint), RM 16 (half pint).
Mocktail: Lychee Magarita Frozen-RM15.00
It taste like Ice blended with Lychee flavour.
Germany Sausage Platter-RM25.90
The sausages taste much better than previous I had in Penang, I guess they have revised the taste or they have imported different sausages. But this definitely have improved and taste a lot better.
German Pork Knuckle-RM 25.00 (half potion)
Pork Knuckle still taste very good. I just simply love it very much. The price also lower than any other places I know so far. Click here to see on the previous post I have reviewed.
